Where the court meets the countryside

Hazelwood Tennis Club sits adjacent to the crossroads of Fountainville, just north of Mallow, County Cork. Founded in 1961, this community facility is perfectly located within the woods and fields of a quiet rural setting. All-weather surfacing and floodlights ensure club activity throughout the year.

Whether your interest lies in taking up tennis for the first time - individually or as a family - taking part in both intra and inter club competitions or just enjoying an occasional social game, Hazelwood Tennis Club offers membership to all ages and levels (download a membership form below).

About our club

WHO WE ARE

Hazelwood Tennis Club is a community funded organisation, made up of members from the surrounding area. It governs the use and upkeep of two shared courts, made available to all members, throughout the year.

COURT FACILITIES

Hazelwood TC has two all-weather courts. Separate access facilitates physical distancing. Lighting was upgraded to energy-efficient LEDs, permitting year round playability. The courts are open to all current members, via locked gates, with an online court booking and contact tracing system.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership plans are available for single adults, families and students. It ensures unlimited court access, involvement in club activities and teams, notification of lesson schedules, summer camps for children and Whatsapp notifications.

CLUB PHILOSOPHY

Tennis a wonderful sport, open to all ages and levels. Our club seeks to promote the game, its health benefits, social opportunities and unreserved fun to be found in taking part. We pride ourselves in community, inclusion, teamwork and fair play.

Events and news

From the 10th of May, 2021, Ireland welcomes back doubles! Players from different households may again play side-by-side, though all COVID precautions - such as physical distancing, respiratory etiquette, no contact, and no sharing of equipment - remain firmly in place. The full list of both new allowances and preserved precautions, for this phase, can be read here.

The Munster Tennis Summer Cup will run from July the 18th. The competition is a team-based doubles event, with all grades represented. Hazelwood Tennis Club has a wonderful history, as regards both summer and winter tournaments. We encourage all members to get involved. The club’s lighting has been upgraded to energy-efficient LED panels, providing members with a much brighter, more uniform, longer-lasting solution. Members can now enjoy the best all-season illumination in the club’s history. Special thanks to fund-raisers, club supporters, and grant officers. Tennis is a wonderful leisure activity, open to all ages and abilities, offering the benefits of fitness, relaxation, new friendships and challenges. Hazelwood Tennis Club is both a facility and group; a place you and your friends can use, year round, as well as being an organisation members can move with in the broader, competitive world of tennis.

There are annual adult, student and family rates, guaranteeing court access and inclusion to club activities, events and competitions. You don’t have to live locally to be a member and all proceeds go toward the club’s ongoing costs, maintenance and improvements.
